I spoke too soon...

Immediately after sending my previous newsletter, the Senate President announced committee hearings would be held this week in an effort to move bills during the Sine Die session May 21st. This week has included hours of Zoom calls in preparation for next week. I'm not sure how we will hold proper debates and votes without 10 or more gathering. I'll have my mask at-the-ready.

Senate District 11 Resources:

#1 KDOT Priority: 69 Highway Expansion!

One of the key reasons I ran for the State Senate in 2016 was to restore our state's solvency and stop the raid on the Department of Transportation's budget to pay for basic operating expenses.

We stopped the KDOT "highway robbery" and ensured future funding to keep our roads safe - starting with HIGHWAY 69!

The top priority project in the state, it will be a 6-lane freeway from 151st to 103rd when complete. To view the project list and more information about the IKE Transportation Plan, click here.
Take a peek at KDOT's intro video for the program:
Phase 1.5

In Thursday's COVID press conference, Governor Kelly announced a pause between Phases 1 and 2, with the insertion of Phase 1.5.

Phase 1.5 involves two key changes:
  • The original plan would allow groups up to 30 people to begin meeting as of Monday, May 18. The new phase continues the maximum at 10 people.
  • Personal services (hair, nails, etc.) may open by appointment only.
