Dear Friend:
hanks for your patience as I took some time off to decompress and accept that Election Day didn’t go our way. That being said, I would not have done anything different:
  • 70+ legislative updates
  • 50 town hall meetings
  • Dozens of speaking engagements at schools, Rotary Clubs, nursing homes, Scout troops, and everything in between.
I’ve worked very hard to represent everyone in the district regardless of party or position and have enjoyed nearly every minute of the honor of representing you these last few years. Voters get the government they vote for – whether or not they voted. The people have spoken and I will take the opportunity to enjoy my winter and spring at home or on our farm instead of in Topeka.
Here is a comparison of voter turnout between 2016 and 2020:
  • 2016 voters: 10,025
  • 2020 voters: 14,018
  • 40% increase in voter turnout
To my constituents, it has been an honor to work with you to restore our state’s solvency and sanity. I remain your State Senator until January 2021 and will continue to attend meetings and help constituents access their state government.
To my faithful readers, I am grateful for your support and candor over the years. It has been my privilege to serve.
Take care of yourself and each other,

John Skubal
Kansas State Senator
District 11
Representing Overland Park & Leawood
