Dear Friend:

Yesterday marked the first day of the 2018 legislative session! It is so great to see my friends and colleagues again, some of whom I haven't seen since the end of session last year. I am energized and enthusiastic as we begin to work to solve the issues facing Kansas.

Throughout session, I will provide regular updates to highlight Capitol happenings, such as what is occurring in my committee assignments and important bills being discussed on the floor. I will also be continuing to host legislative forums this session - thanks to all who attended the full-house Shawnee forum this weekend! Please see the information for the next forum hosted by Sen. Dinah Sykes, Rep. Tom Cox and myself below:
Sunday, January 14th: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Lenexa Public Market, 2nd Floor Conference Room
8750 Penrose Ln., Lenexa, KS 66219

If you wish for me to go into further detail regarding a specific issue, please feel free to contact me for more information.

At 2:00 p.m. Monday, session was officially gaveled in, with committee work starting today. This afternoon at 5:00 p.m., Governor Brownback will deliver the State of the State address to both the House and Senate. If you would like to tune in to the event, the State of the State address will be live-streamed here.
