Dear Friend:

Hard to believe it’s been over two months since the primary election! My fall classes are well under way, cooler weather has settled in (I hope!) and the general election is only FOUR weeks away! Time sure flies!

Over the past two months I have continued to meet with constituents and stakeholders, attend chamber events and school district events to better understand the issues that will face us when we begin the legislative session in January. And, there is no shortage of issues to tackle. In fact, the news continues to be so bad that the governor has stopped printing the reports (as if that will make it all go away!).

Legislative Information

The damage done to our state and our economy, due to poor policy decisions, will continue to emerge over the coming months and years. It will take decades to rebuild our state reserves and our reputation as a great place to live, own a business, and work. While it won’t happen overnight, I believe we can turn things around in Kansas with the right folks representing us in Topeka. I’m proud to be one of them and am hopeful many other moderate candidates will join me after the November 8th election! So, get out and VOTE!!

October 18th is the LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE! So, is running out. This is will be an incredibly important election, locally and nationally. Be sure to
register, so you can vote. There is still time to request a ballot by mail and advanced voting in person begins on Monday, October 24th in some locations. Check out specific information at the Johnson County Election Office website.
We had a great time marching in the Overland Park Fall Festival Parade in downtown Overland Park a couple of weeks ago. My husband, Stewart, enjoyed showing off his classic cars (with our grandson Arthur) and, our granddaughter (Iola Mae) quickly became an expert on greeting people along the parade path and handing out candy. She’s a natural.  Thousands of people turned out to enjoy the day. Thanks to all of my GREAT volunteers who joined us in our parade walk!
John Skubal, Jan Kessinger and I will hold our monthly Listening Session on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15TH at the CORNER BAKERY NEAR 135TH and METCALF. Discussion will commence at 10am and we hope you will join us! This will be our last Listening Session before the general election, and we would like the chance to thank you all for your support, listen to your ideas, critiques and policy proposals that we will take to Topeka. There is nothing more important to a healthy democracy than a well-informed and engaged electorate and the only way we can successfully lead is to know your thoughts and concerns. After the general election, we will keep you informed as to when we will be having more Listening Sessions in 2017.

Finally, November 8th marks the end to this general election cycle, so if you haven’t donated to my campaign for this general election cycle please consider doing so now. I’ll need strong financial support to ward off challengers in the 2018 election, the campaign for which will begin in less than 15 months!! You can donate via
PayPal or CashMe. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any of your questions or concerns; I look forward to representing you in Topeka!
