Dear Friend:
I hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends and that the new year is off to a great start.

Yesterday was the first day of the 2018 legislative session. I have been able to catch up and see my friends and colleagues again, some of whom I haven't seen since the end of session last year! I am looking forward to continue our work to solve the problems facing our state and restoring common sense to Kansas.

Throughout session, I will provide regular updates to highlight what is going on at the Capitol, including what is occurring in my committee assignments and important bills being discussed on the floor. Also, throughout the session, I will be hosting legislative forums, allowing you to have your questions answered and comments and concerns heard face-to-face. As session progresses, I will keep you informed when these forums will occur. If you wish for me to go into further detail regarding a specific issue, please feel free to contact me for more information.
At 2:00 p.m. Monday, session was officially gaveled in, with committee work starting today. This afternoon at 5:00 p.m., Governor Brownback will deliver the State of the State address to both the House and Senate. If you would like to tune in to the event, the State of the State address will be live-streamed here.
