Dr Heather White
University of Wisconsin-Madison

Dr. Heather White is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the area of dairy cattle nutritional physiology. Dr. White's research program focuses on the health and nutrition of dairy cows during the transition period and is centered on hepatic and whole-animal nutrient partitioning and metabolism. Notably, Dr. White’s research strives to determine the mechanism of nutrient partitioning, feed efficiency, and metabolic health in order to provide science-based solutions and interventions to improve dairy cow health and productivity. Heather will present 3 topics over the 2 days: Nutrient partitioning & metabolism; Defining the ability of choline and methionine to modulate methyl donor metabolism using a bovine neonatal hepatocyte model; and Use of big data to monitor herd health.

JOINT NZARN & AARN MEETING
The NZARN Committee are busy planning their November meeting, with the following outline so far:
DAY 1 Tuesday 26 November 
  •  All day seminars at the conference venue
DAY 2 Wednesday 27 November
  • Morning seminar session
  • Afternoon session to visit 5-Star Beef 
DAY 3 Thursday 28 November
  • Farm tours

The conference will be held at the Hotel Ashburton

Ashburton is 90km from Christchurch Airport, New Zealand.
