Britannia News

I hope everyone is enjoying the final arrival of winter. Snow seems very scarce this year leaving many of us out of "snow shovel shape". Please exercise caution when clearing driveways and walkways.

A new committee formed between the City and the Peel Board of Education. In spring, we will begin discussions on a long-held dream to develop Britannia Farm on Hurontario into a glorious outdoor education facility, heritage park and nature trail network with public access.

I will be on the committee and delighted to receive any public input from Ward 5 residents! As always, you can email me at carolyn.parrish@mississauga.ca or phone my office at 905-896-5500.

New Law in Ontario

A new Ontario law came into effect January 1st and we want to make sure you are aware of it! Drivers and cyclists must now stop and yield at pedestrian crossovers and school crossings until the pedestrians and/or crossing guard is completely off the road and safely on the sidewalk. This law does not apply to crosswalks, unless a crossing guard is present. You could recieve up to a $500 fine if you fail to stop and yield.

Click on the links to know the difference between a crossover, school crossing and crosswalks.
