Paul Coffey Day

The official renaming ceremony for Paul Coffey Arena and Park was a huge success!

For those who were unable to attend, thousands of people enjoyed the delicious food supplied free by Longo's and Maple Lodge Farms, premium coffee donated by McCafe, bouncy castles for kids, performances by Hotel California and Newton's Grove and a very special speech given by Paul Coffey. We all watched as he choked up with pride and joy reminiscing about growing up in Malton and how special the Village truly is to his whole family.

During the ceremony, large donations were made to the fairy tale "Castles" playground to be built in the park Spring 2017 by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Canada) Aerospace and Longo's Family Trust. An even bigger surprise was the very special announcement made by Raptors Superfan, Nav Bhatia. Mr. Bhatia announced the construction of an official NBA-sized basketball court along with multiple practice courts to be built next year!!

The night concluded with Storm Troopers and Darth Vader making an excitingly dramatic entrance to kick start the best fireworks display in the city, set to the theme music of Star Wars!

Next month, we will be holding a Christmas Market at Westwood Square with horse-drawn wagon rides and Santa coming to town.

Paul Coffey tells the crowd this is the greatest honour in his long hockey career.

Road Safety Campaign

Residents are encouraged to post a "Please Slow Down" lawn sign produced by the City to encourage safe driving habits and to lower excessive speeding on neighbourhood streets. These signs are available free of charge to residents who are interested. Please post them on your front lawn, not on the boulevards or other City property.

To obtain a lawn sign please contact our office at 905-896-5500.

Stormwater Credit Program
