Change to ACCC complaint requirements for food businesses
ACCC Requirements to report food safety illness to the ACCC  has been relaxed, with the responsibility now on the health professional and state health authorities to report food borne illness. Mandatory reporting of a complaint of food safety to the ACCC came into place with the Australian Consumer Law in 2011. Businesses are now advised to amend their food safety program and remove the ACCC requirement to report food safety related complaints from consumers.  Read more information on our news page

The health star rating for front of pack food labels can be a useful tool to promote your product to consumers. Information on the Health Star rating can be found on our website resources page. We can calculate your health star rating for each product, so you can start to use this latest labelling initiative.
