Here enclosed you will find the “IUIS Without Borders” Newsletter with a new format. Over the past few years, efforts have been made to improve communication within IUIS. It is part of a comprehensive strategic effort by the Presidency and Executive Committee as indicated our website. The Newsletter will serve as a communication tool within our community highlighting the activity of Committees. Committees are the backbone of IUIS and I am sure that I interpret the feelings of all of us expressing our gratitude to Committee Chairs and Members for their dedication and efforts.
We start with a report from our Education Committee, a major thrust of our effort aimed at fostering Immunology with a focus on developing countries. We will also be giving you updates on the other IUIS stakeholders such as the National Society Members and Regional Federations. But also our Partners & Affiliates, such as Frontiers in Immunology, the official IUIS Journal. In the coming months as we approach the international congress of immunology in Beijing, this newsletter will be a key source of information on IUIS 2019.
It is our hope this quarterly Newsletter will provide our Constituency a feeling of the diversity, breadth and impact of the IUIS committment to promote “Immunology without borders”.
Professor Alberto Mantovani
Teaching Immunology in the developing world
The IUIS Education Committee is composed of 18 members from all continents, mandated to teach immunology in the developing world.
Founded in 1975, the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) is a non-profit umbrella organization representing 33 European, Eurasian and Middle-Eastern immunology societies, collectively uniting more than 14,000 individual immunologists.
Every active member of an EFIS-affiliated Society is automatically considered a "member" of EFIS, and can thus benefit from EFIS programs and incentives.
K.I.T. Group GmbH, the appointed core professional organizer (CORE PCO) for IUIS 2019, has expanded its team and opened an office in Beijing, China. The K.I.T Group China office will be working on the IUIS 2019 congress along with the K.I.T. Group Berlin team and the Chinese Society for Immunology and manage the planning and logistical arrangements (including industry relations, supplier management, promotion, registration and accommodation).
