IWD 2021: WI Women in Activism
Above: Liverbirds WI (left) and Pewsham Belles WI (right)

For this year's International Women's Day on 8 March, WI members were involved in a 'craftivism' project, making pennants or banners that represented a WI campaign or women's issue. Over 50 WIs took part and the entries were outstanding and incredibly powerful. The banners will be used in future women's marches once Covid restrictions have been lifted.
Head to our social media channels to see more of the banners.
Hold onto HOPE
The March issue of WI Life magazine has landed with members. In this issue, we're reflecting on the challenging year it has been, 12 months on from when we first went into lockdown.

This month's issue is a celebration of members who are key workers - our WI heroes. To read the 'tales from the frontline' feature, and other WI stories, recipes and craft projects, visit our website.
Let's Celebrate: NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day
The WI is proud to be supporting the first ever NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers' Day on 5 July 2021, to thank health and care workers for being there for us when we need them most. We are inviting WI members to hold afternoon tea events within their communities, and we encourage as many others as possible to get involved too. Denman at Home Tutor and Pastry Chef Kelly Mauger has designed this fabulous cake for the day, find the recipe here and learn more about the event on the Frontline Day website.
Every Thursday throughout March, we'll be celebrating the WI members who have gone above and beyond to keep their WIs connected and support others who may be lonely or struggling, one year on from when we first went into lockdown. All these inspiring women have been nominated by other members of their WI. Head to our Facebook page to see the women we've celebrated so far!
