JOIN US TO FIGHT THE GREEN BELT GRAB!
“Save Woodford’s Green Belt” is an informal group of residents, formed around the members of Woodford Community Council, Woodford Neighbourhood Forum and the Woodford War Memorial Community Centre, dedicated to fighting the declassification of Woodford’s Green Belt. It is a partner in “Save Greater Manchester Greenbelt”, an umbrella association representing over 30 local 'Save the Greenbelt groups' across Greater Manchester. It supports housing on Brownfield sites and seeks to protect all Greenbelt for future generations. It is a formally constituted organisation. You can view its Facebook page here.

You can visit “Save Woodford’s Green Belt” Facebook page here and post comments to let us know your views on GMSF.

Join us and the other Groups around Greater Manchester in a rally in front of the Manchester Town Hall. You can view the “Save Greater Manchester Greenbelt” poster here.

Rally - Save the Greenbelt Groups
Our peaceful rally will demonstrate against the GMCA's lack of a sustainable vision for the provision of housing on Brownfield sites across GM. Their proposal to decommission Greenbelt land to enable house and office building is based on flawed population projections and a desire to increase Council Tax receipts by building large numbers of large, high value housing units on Greenbelt. Our Rally is the launch event for the Community Voice on Planning (COVOP) Month of Action.

The Council for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) is a partner organisation and fully supportive of this rally and will be fielding a speaker on the day.

Join us on 1st April in Albert Square to show our politicians what we think about their flawed Spatial Plan. Your committees have been working hard behind the scenes to pull everyone together in a HUGE show of support. There will be media coverage and the mayoral candidates will be watching. Pledge your support, grab your friends, family and maybe a placard and be part of this unprecedented and historic event.

In addition to the Rally we will be producing banners and posters to support this phase of our campaign. If you would be prepared to display one then please let us know at
info@woodfordcommunity.co.uk. This is currently Round 2 of a longer battle. The aim is to remind GMCA officials and councillors of the changes they need to make in the revision of the GMSF.

Help prepare for Round 3 in the campaign to save Woodford's Greenbelt

In order that we are prepared when the revised GMSF documents are published sometime later this year, we are particularly looking for residents or close supporters who have expertise in the following:
  • Press and PR
  • Journalism and broadcast media
  • Relevant local government experience
  • Detailed analysis of technical documents
  • Fund raising
If this could be you, or indeed if you are just enthusiastic to contribute, then please contact us on info@woodfordcommunity.co.uk to make our team more effective.

Traffic calming measures on Moor Lane, Church Lane and Blossoms Lane

Our Councillors and SMBC officials are finalising proposals for traffic calming measures on Moor Lane, Church Lane and Blossoms Lane. A video camera survey is to be undertaken on Church Lane and Blossoms Lane to assess the extent of their use by vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians, in addition to vehicular traffic. The final proposals should be open for consultation shortly.
