Bowl On Your Own

With the season turning to fall, many of our bowling participants have been curious about Senior Bowling Club. Although it is a difficult decision, it has been determined for the health and safety of the senior bowlers that the fall season of Bowling Club will not be held. Tuttle's Eat Bowl Play is generously offering on your own Senior Bowling from 11 am-5 pm weekdays at a discounted rate. So grab a friend for a game or two and take advantage of the fantastic senior bowling pricing of $2.50 (+tax) per game, and the low cost of $3.50 shoe rental. For open bowling details contact Tuttle's at 952-938-4090. Meanwhile, stay tuned in the new year for updates on Bowling Club.

Sports are for Everyone

Work Out on Your Own

When you just cannot make a scheduled fitness class time or the weather doesn't allow for outdoor exercise, motivate yourself to try an at home workout tailored to your fitness level:

Adaptive Sports

A part of science that the Science Museum of Minnesota is passionate about is movement and sports, which is why they created Sportsology (an exhibit with fields, courts, and a gym functioning as a lab). By studying how your body moves through play, it is easier to understand how elite athletes do what they do. Just like science, sports are for everyone, too. Read how Mark Braun, paralympic athlete and Sportsology star got interested in sports, works to inspire the next generation, and pushes himself every day. Get inspired.

Group Meet Ups

  • The Men’s Shed is gathering at the Activity Center to meet up this week for a sneak peek at what protocols are being implemented in preparation for slowly working towards small group in-person programming. Men's Shed members register to attend and find more information here.
  • Virtual Group Meet Ups and a list of fitness classes offered this week can be found on the program calendar at

#2 in the Series
"Lessons from an Ironman in Training"

Welcome to the return of our monthly featured serieswritten by internationally recognized motivational speaker, author and business coach, Mike Marchev:
"Developing The Proper Mental Mindset"
I am back as promised with an article that will kick-off our series dealing with proper preparation and focus when dealing with lofty challenges. I am not suggesting that you begin training for a long distance endurance race. I will use my current challenge as an example of what a 71 year-old body can achieve when properly prepared. In my case, it involves getting my body in shape for a 70.3 mile Ironman competition.
Before dusting off your old two-wheeler, strapping on your a swimming goggles or lacing up your running shoes, many hours of frustration, disappointment and chagrin can be eliminated once you confirm in your own mind that this is a challenge worth pursuing. (Continue reading "Developing The Proper Mental Mindset")
