Message from the TAP Coordinators:
Dear TAP Friends,
With the holiday break and the new year approaching, we wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all again for the amazing work that you’ve all undertaken together and with us this past year. The Network really has come very far since we joined as Coordinators, and it’s a credit to the time and dedication to our collective work from all of you. The Network is 167 organizations and 243 individuals strong – up from 41 organizations and 79 individual members that we had at the beginning of the year. Additionally, as a result of our far-reaching work, we’ve brought on many more organizations from the Global South this year, as these organizations now make up nearly half of the makeup of the Network today – so our diversity and reach have been surely growing.
We’ve produced a significant amount of work together with all of you in the past year, working around several different but related processes. Our work has set the stage perfectly for many key opportunities in 2016: Our work on follow-up and review and “accountability” has made us a leading coalition of CSOs working on these issues, heading into the follow-up and review HLPF negotiations next year; our work around Goal 16 data/indicators has made us the go-to group on these Goal 16 issues, heading into some very important work to finalize the indicators and data for the SDGs; and our expansive reach this past year has set us up well for our future work in building capacities or CSOs to implement and hold governments accountable for Goal 16 and SDG commitments in 2016 and beyond.
With 2016 approaching, we’ve put together a tentative calendar of events/opportunities around these processes, which you can find in the newsletter below and on our website. As there is still much up to be decided when it comes to implementation and accountability of the 2030 Agenda and Goal 16, we are presented with both challenges and opportunities. We would argue that while our work around the inclusion of Goal 16 in the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda was monumental, we’ll inevitably have a more important role to play in the planning, implementation and accountability for Goal 16 and the 2030 Agenda more broadly. Having said that, we very much look forward to taking the work of TAP forward in 2016 with all of you, and we also look forward to updating you soon on the status of our proposal to the donor group.
And for the Star Wars fans out there: May the Force be with you!
Best Regards,
TAP Coordinators
John & Liam

TAP Network Submission to IAEG-SDGs Consultation on "Grey" Indicators:
Thanks to all of you who contributed your inputs into TAP’s response to the IAEG-SDGs open consultation on the “grey” indicators. For your information, here are the responses that we’ve put together and submitted as inputs into this open consultation, as well as the TAP Metadata document for Goal 16 indicators. We’ve submitted these inputs into the open consultation platform, but will also send these document to IAEG-SDGs Members and other relevant colleagues, to help ensure that they receive/see our inputs.
These inputs were very much in line with our positions in the past, including our TAP Goal 16 Metadata document, and there are many areas of consensus views from all who contributed. In fact, in the vast majority of cases, we have used your language in our responses, which really made things much easier for us – so thanks very much again! There were only a couple of items where your inputs did not provide for a complete consensus view, and we’ve commented on these points in the google doc, which you can find untouched here: http://bit.ly/1HV1jd2
A friendly reminder that if you’re interested in contributing to our ongoing work around Goal 16 data/indicators, you can join the TAP data/indicators working group here, where we’ll have the majority of our discussions around these issues going forward. We will have our next Data/Indicators call tomorrow (Thursday), so please join ASAP if you’d like to participate in that call as well.

TAP Network thematic experts on various Goal 16 issues:
As we continue our collective work on many fronts around Goal 16, it will be necessary for us to identify particular areas of expertise. As such, we’ve put together a form for you to identify areas of expertise from your organizations, which you can fill out here. While we’ve certainly gotten to know most of you (and your work) very well this past year, this is a very long overdue attempt for us to map out and gather data/information on each of your individual organizations’ work and expertise around Goal 16 issues. This will be very important for us, particularly in the year ahead, as we will turn to all of you much more for your expertise on various Goal 16 issues and related work. Without filling this form, we potentially won’t be able to include you in our thematic work around various issues going forward, so it is very important for you to provide this information for us, and it will take you less than 1 minute to fill out.
Please fill out the following form to tell us a bit more about your organization’s work and expertise: http://bit.ly/1lzfv0D
