New stat: 6.8% of children in the U.S. are bereaved

When Judi's House, a research-based grief support organization, released their Child Bereavement Estimation Model (CBEM) with these statistics, I realized that stepfamilies need support, blessings, and connection more than ever. So do what moves you most from the resources below--watch, listen, or make plans to connect.

I’ve been waiting to share this with you... I was invited to participate in a powerful FREE interview series called Parenting After Divorce. The project was created by Lynnae & Michael Pompeo and they're featuring me along with over 20 other incredible experts. These are real conversations, all designed to inspire, encourage and empower you to create a successful and cooperative co-parenting partnership with your ex so that your children can be free to thrive.

Podcaster Jenny Lisk's listeners asked her for some practical advice about the role of a stepparent in a grieving family (good news: the natural parents really DO want to help us find our role!).

In The Widowed Parent Podcast, Episode 12, Jenny asked me a lot of thoughtful questions about parent and stepparent roles (if it's not replacing the deceased parent, what is it?), tips for disciplining kids in the new family arrangement, common stepfamily myths, and the importance of helping the kids honor and remember their deceased parent.
