SCHOOL NEWS

A team that is lead by School of Architecture + Design Professor, Joe Wheeler, and Computer Science Associate Professor, Denis Gracanin, will be in Atlanta this week at the AIA Expo as one of the featured exhibits with the FutureHAUS "Kitchen of the Future" and "Living Room of the Future." Students

Adel Alzahrani's paper: "Understanding Outdoor Social Spaces: Use of Collaborative Sketching to Capture User's Imagination  as a Rich Source of Their Needs and Desires" will be presented at the Environmental Design Research Association's Annual Conference EDRA46 this month in Los Angeles.

Faculty

Lisa Tucker, Interior Design Program Chair, has been selected for the 2015 Educator Medalist Award. Congratulations, Lisa! This is given out by ASID's National Honors recognition program and was give because the selection committee was impressed with Lisa's involvement with ASID along with her service and tenure as an instructor.

Also, Lisa Tucker has a book coming out this summer (July) - American Architects and the Single Family House: Lessons Learned from the Architects Small House Service Bureau.

COMPETITIONS

NEW
Innovative Minds explores the relationship between a site specific physical architectural design and the virtual world. Investigate the influence of the virtual world blending with physical architecture. Register by May 15, 2015.

SCHOLARSHIPS & OPPORTUNITIES

The AIA offers up to 18 months of free membership to recent architecture school graduates, students in pre-professional programs, and IDP candidates. It's our way of welcoming you into this vibrant and exciting profession. In addition to 18 months of free membership, you will pay no registration fee to attend the 2015 AIA Convention in Atlanta, where you can start building your professional network and see the breadth of opportunity that is available to you.

MAC-ISA Annual Meeting Scholarships, October 5-6, 2015 at the Double Tree Hotel in Annapolis, MD. There are scholarships available for registration only or registration and lodging. Deadline to apply is August 28, 2015 application
Also, two scholarships are available in the amount of $1,250 each, in memory of Dr. Frank Santamour, past President and charter member of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of ISA. These scholarships will be awarded to Undergraduate students studying abrboriculture/urban forestry or a related field in a two or four year program. Deadline to apply is September 4, 2015. application

Post-Industrial Landscapes is a traveling academic program created by Tobias Klein in the Architectural Association Visiting School Program. It strives to explore technological boundaries in the field of Architecture and New Media Design. Application deadline is July 6, 2015.
