Steven and Cathi House, Virginia Tech alumni and partners in House + House Architects, created the Center for Architecture Sustainability + Art, a summer study program in San Miguel de Allende. Students can now apply for the summer 2017 session. The deadline is Feb. 15. more

DBR is now seeking entries for PAUSE, an international wood design competition that will determine the final form of this year's pavilion structure for TED2017. Submissions are due January 1, 2017. more application

NEW - deadline this Friday - The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is dedicated to promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in all fields of study by sponsoring an annual conference for students. Traditionally, Virginia Tech has sponsored 2-4 students annually to attend NCUR which is held at campuses around the country. Abstract deadline is December 2nd.
NEW - Deadline this Sunday, December 4th - VT Engage Spring Break Service Trip
Hello! My name is Megan Mickey and I'm a trip leader with VT Engage. I am excited to announce VT Engage's Spring Break Trip to Hurley Virginia to help with Rural Community Development!  We will be serving in Hurley, Virginia with Hurley Community Development, repairing houses and learning about the challenges Hurley and other southwest Virginian towns face. NEW - ACC Meeting of the Minds - 5-10 outstanding undergraduate researchers from each ACC university gather at a host university, each year, to present their research, either verbally or as a poster. To be invited to the conferee is a real honor. Deadline is January 23rd.
NEW - It is a celebration of the creative and scholarly accomplishments of undergraduate students campus wide. This Conference features the work of all majors and program s and it gives students an opportunity to showcase what they're doing, to defend their work, exchanges ideas, and share new ideas. Application deadline is February 6th.
NEW - The Fralin SURF program is a 10-week training program designed to give motivated Virginia Tech undergraduates the opportunity to engage in full-time (~40 hrs/week) research and related professional development activities that mirror graduate training. 15 students will be selected to participate in this training program during the summer of 2017 and will receive a $4,000 stipend. Deadline is February 19th.
NEW - Competitive grant program to support student-led research projects in any discipline each summer, with awards of up to $2,000 which can go towards travel, supplies, stipend, and the like. Deadline is February 22nd.
DEADLINE is Wednesday - Forecast is an interdisciplinary platform, which now has started its second edition and will invite 30 talents from fields such as art, architecture, music, dance, design, etc. to Haus de Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in March 2017. Mentors such as curator Hou Hanru, designer Heather Martin, video artist Bjorn Melhus, architect Philippe Rahm, choreographer Richard Siegal, and composer Jennifer Walshe will accompany chosen projects to fruition. The international open call for the second edition is online until November 30, 2016. more

Awards African-American students enrolled in US not-for-profit NAAB-accredited architecture programs with academic scholarships and summer internship opportunities. Submission Deadline is December 4, 2016.

Awards students enrolled in US not-for-profit CIDA-accredited interior design programs with academic scholarships and summer internship opportunities. Submission deadline is December 4, 2016.
Since 2009, Houzz has worked alongside architects, interior designers and lanscape architects to build a digital platform that enables them to improve and grow their business. Now through Houzz Scholarships we are lookin to support the education of the next generation of practicing professionals. Houzz Scholarships will award three $2,500 scholarships, in the categories of "Women in Architecture," "Residential Interior Design," and "Sustainable Design." For scholarships that will be awarded in Spring 2017, applications are due no later than December 15, 2016.
