ANNOUNCEMENTS
FROM YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISORS

Student Success Center complete lineup of group tutoring sessions, Peer Academic Coaching (PAC) hours and Academic Success Seminars for Fall 2016 is now available online at the Student Success Center website. All programming begins this week (the week of August 29th).

  • Please note that all students can walk-in and make individual appointments to meet with a PAC, but students with GPAs between 2.0-2.5 can register for weekly, recurring appointments.

  • Most seminars will take place in Femoyer Hall, but please note the addition of The Slusher Seminar Series offered in the Slusher Academic Resource Center (ARC) on Fridays at 11:00.

Monday, September 5th - No class, university is closed (includes main office)

Upcoming:
Monday, September 30th - Last day for students to drop Fall 2016 classes without grade penalty, last day to change grade option from A-F to P/F.

SCHOOL NEWS

Sarah Wahlgren, AIAS National President, will be speaking in Cowgill 300 on Monday, August 29th at 5:05pm.
Our own Gene Egger, Nancy and Patrick Lathrop Professor Emeritus, will be visiting the University of Kentucky College of Design to display his work and go on a live sketching excursion with students starting this upcoming weekend. Learn more about his visit and see some of his work here.

COMPETITIONS

In its fifth year the Fentress Global Challenge invites young architects to explore future design possibilities in public architecture. This year the annual competition challenges students to envision The Airport of the Future, designing speculative projects for a future in which airports will have ever-more significance as facilities for travel, retail, leisure, national security and more. Deadline is October 1st. more
The City Above the City international wood design competition invites architects and students from all over the world to solve the challenges of urbanization in both sustainable and humane ways. Deadline is September 30th. more

SCHOLARSHIPS & OPPORTUNITIES

NEW - The Forum on Education Abroad welcomes nominations for the 2016 Award for Academic Achievement Abroad (formerly the Undergraduate Research Award). The Award for Academic Achievement Abroad is an honor that showcases rigorous and significant undergraduate academics that occur as part of education abroad programs. Every year, award recipients are invited (all expenses paid) to present their work at the plenary luncheon at The Forum annual conference. Nomination deadline is August 31. more
