e-update #4

Dear readers,

As we head towards the summer we have made good progress in the Lighthouse Cities (see below), with most having finalised the planning /procurement phase and in the middle of the nitty gritty roll-out of the smart solutions.

A couple of weeks ago we were at the 2016 EIP-SCC General Assembly in Einhoven where we met the cities involved in the five new projects, which are being funded under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 ‘Smart cities and communities’ funding stream. You can also have the opportunity to meet all of the projects and find out more about how we are working together at the Building Sustainability, SGBC16 Conference in Stockholm,18-20 October. Early bird tickets are still available until 30 June!

Don't forget if you are interested in following what is happening in our Lighthouse cities and five Follower cities (see below for an update from Porto) more closely, you can join our city interest group.

Best wishes,

Gustaf Landahl
Project Coordinator (City of Stockholm)

Stockholm blog #3: putting smart solutions into practice
What is a demonstration site, is there is anything to demonstrate? Why does it take so long to get things implemented? Isn’t the technology for your smart solutions already in place?

Find out how we addressed these questions during the planning phase of GrowSmarter and find out
how our smart solutions are shaping up in situ!
Mika Hakosalo will be leading the implementation of the 12 solutions in Årsta, and will be providing you with updates from the Stockholm site.

Barcelona blog #3: smart taxi management in Barcelona
With our taxi tracking app solution we hope to help manage the taxi distribution in Barcelona by guiding taxi drivers to head to empty stands waiting for a service, or to those which have the highest demands to pick-up clients.

Find out how we are planning on developing this app and when the trials begin!
Joan Blanco will be leading the implementation of the 12 solutions, and will be providing you with updates from the Barcelona site.
