Thanksgiving Message from Tami R. Lesser, Executive Director

Dear Friends,

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, I am reflecting on my first six months and all that I am grateful for as Executive Director of the West Palm Beach Library Foundation including the opportunity to serve this community-building organization.  In the spirit of gratitude, and in no particular order, I humbly share my Top 10 things I am grateful for…

  3. The Dedicated Foundation Team – who inspire me with their commitment, diligence and excellence
  4. The Incredible Library Staff – who make magic happen for thousands of people every day at the Library
  5. Our Extraordinary Library Programs – which ensure that everyone in our community has access to vital information and resources
  6. The City of West Palm Beach – a beautiful, vibrant, community-minded paradise for the Library to call home
  7. Our Community Partners – who allow us to connect and collaborate with more of our community members
  8. Our Devoted Board Members – who generously give their time and talents to support our mission
  9. Our Beloved Patrons – who are the reason we are all motivated to do this important work
  10. The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach – a vital community center that brings diverse people together and creates an inspired community
Wishing you a joyous Thanksgiving and all my best,

GivingTuesday was founded as a simple idea: to bring people together for a day of giving back to create a more just and generous world.  After your day of thanks and giving with friends and family, and after your shopping sprees on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, join the #GivingTuesday movement on Dec. 3 and help our mission to support the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach.  Please consider giving your time, skills, expertise or resources and help us create an inspired community.

And if you are shopping on Amazon during the holidays (or anytime) please go to smile.amazon.com first before shopping. Sign in to your Amazon account and type in the West Palm Beach Library Foundation as the charitable organization of your choice. Then start shopping and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the WPBLF...it's that easy!

Remembering Morton L. Mandel
“Every day, they pay tribute to what I believe: that a single individual can change the world. Powerful ideas, driven by outstanding people, represent a sure way to light more candles and help illuminate the world.”
- Morton L. Mandel
We were saddened to share that the namesake of the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach, Morton L. Mandel, a renowned business leader, philanthropist, author and dedicated social entrepreneur, recently passed away.

We were honored to be a part of Mr. Mandel's celebration of life, along with our local community, at the Kravis Center. Our Library Director Chris Murray spoke about about Mr. Mandel's vision for the library and shared an amusing story from one of his visits. Mr. Mandel made a profound impact in our community by supporting the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach with a $5 million gift. His kindness and generosity will be forever remembered.
