June zipped right by, so pretend this is a June newsletter.
I'm just finishing up Hear Her Sports Glenville listening stations (studio-kitchen construction zone above) for FRONT opening-weekend events.
As part of Glenville Exchanges, Johnny Coleman & I will be talking about our projects at The FRONT Porch (1470 E. 105th Street) on July 14. He starts at 10am and I at 10:30am. Click here for details.
I've learned so much these past months and I've absolutely loved talking to so many incredible, physically active ladies of all ages (8-95). Hearing these stories about the power of sports to break boundaries, find community, and build strength has been moving, in great part, because these stories reflect my story. Your story is my story is their story is her story. All of this is so relevant right now in the 2018 political and social climate.
Since the theme of most of my sculptural work is about breaking boundaries and the tension of that containment, it's been fun to explore another way of looking at the same topic.
