6th Summer School on Motivation and Emotion

August 21 – 23, 2016,Thessaloniki,Greece
We are happy to invite PhD students to apply for the 6th summer school on Motivation and Emotion!
The summer school is jointly organized by the School of Psychology, AUTh and the EARLI SIG8 (Motivation & Emotion) and will be held from Sunday, August 21, through Tuesday, August 23, in Epanomi, a suburb of Thessaloniki next to the sea.

The aim of the summer school is to provide PhD students the opportunity to discuss their research projects and interests with prominent researchers in the field of motivation, emotion, and self-regulation, and to meet other young researchers who work in the same field. Students will enjoy high level mentoring from the ICM2016 summer school experts and get involved in various academic activities while enjoying the sea, the sun and the Greek hospitality.


The following senior scholars will join the ICM2016 Summer School:

Susanne Narciss, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany
Jari-Erik Nurmi, University of Jyväskylä, Finland
Francisco Peixoto, Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada, Instituto Universitário, Portugal
Marja Vauras, University of Turku, Finland

The registration fee for participating in the summer school starts at €280, depending on the accommodation type. Registration fee covers all three days of the summer school, including summers school material and activities, accommodation for three nights (20th, 21st and 22nd of August), full board and transportation from the airport to Akti Retzika and from Akti Retzika to the city of Thessaloniki at the end of the summer school. The registration fee also includes registration to the subsequent ICM2016. Travel expenses are excluded.   

* camping equipment will be provided to participants
** participants who wish to stay in a double room and do not have a roommate will be allocated one randomly
*** there is a limited number of single rooms and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis


To participate in the 6th summer school on Motivation and Emotion, PhD students are asked to submit proposals (about 1000 words, plus references) related to their doctoral research work. Technical equipment will be provided.

Reviewing criteria
  • Relevance to the domain of motivation, emotion and self-regulation
  • Theoretical framework and literature review
  • Conceptual rationale, research questions and/or hypotheses
  • Research method (design, sample, measures, procedure)
  • (Planned) Data analyses and interpretation (depending on the stage of the research)
