CARIM DAY - NOVEMBER 4, 2015

CARIM DAY 2015 will take place on Wednesday November 4.

This year’s Robert Reneman Lecture will be given by Professor Stephane Hatem.

After last year’s success, the location of the symposium will again be the Minderbroedersberg followed by a festive evening in the Grand Café Maastricht (Museum aan het Vrijthof)

More information on the program will be distributed as soon as possible.

Andrea Raso receives Kootstra Talent Fellowship

During the first round of the Kootstra Talent Fellowships 2015, Andrea Raso (PI Leon de Windt) was granted a fellowship. The Kootstra Talent Fellowships are granted to young scientific talents by the Board of Maastricht UMC+ with the aim to support developing their scientific career.

Judith Cosemans wins ATVB Award

he ATVB Awards recognize articles published in ATVB in 2014 that were submitted by new investigators and judged to be the most outstanding in the Atherosclerosis/ Lipoprotein, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology sections of the journal. In the tenth year of the award, 475 articles were submitted for the Awards. Judith Cosemans, PhD, CARIM Maastricht University, is the 2015 recipient of the Karl Link Early Career Investigator Award in Thrombosis, for her article “Factor XII Regulates the Pathological Process of Thrombus Formation on Ruptured Plaques” (Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2014;34:1674–1680).

Dr Judith Cosemans receives the ATVB 2015 Early Career Investigator Award in Thrombosis from Prof. Alan Daugherty, ATVB editor-in-chief. 

Papendal PhD training courses 2015


From October 12 until October 16 the Papendal PhD courses will be organised by the Dutch cardiovascular research institutes under auspices and with organisational/financial support of the Dutch Heart Foundation (DHF). The courses bring young scientists in close contact with the latest scientific developments in the cardiovascular field. A second important aspect of the courses is facilitating interaction between and among PhD students and renowned cardiovascular researchers from different research institutes.The following three courses will be organised this year:
  • Atherosclerosis & Thrombosis 
  • Cardiac Function & Adaptation
  • Vascular Biology
The deadline for registration is August 25, 2015. Information on acceptance will be sent to the applicants before September 7, 2015Detailed information and a link to the registration form can be found on the webpage
