To the SPH Community:
As I mentioned my previous email on this topic
, in July CUNY SPH leadership reached out to hear from students, recent graduates, faculty, and staff how the current racial justice movement has impacted their personal and professional lives and what actions the School should undertake, as an initial step, to create a culture and climate that fosters and supports racial equity and justice, diversity, and inclusion.
The responses to this survey provide critical insight into the actions and interventions we should prioritize. Because of the open-ended nature of the survey questions, the results are presented in a largely qualitative fashion, under broad themes: 1) Impact of the current racial environment, 2) Inspiration and actions taken, 3) Capacity and readiness; and 4) Solutions and future actions. Illustrative quotes were selected to show the range of opinion. The report concludes with a summary of: 1) experiences and viewpoints, and 2) recommendations for enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at the School.
Please take a moment to review the survey report
We believe that this initial assessment will guide us as we begin to review and evaluate our learning and working situations, and develop a comprehensive plan of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives.
Over the course of the Fall semester, we will continue to communicate with you – soliciting your input and feedback as we develop a road map to support and maintain an equitable and just environment.
If you have comments and feedback on the survey report, please email Sahana Gupta at Sahana.Gupta@sph.cuny.edu
With my best wishes,
