Update on Dean (Burns)
Mid-July, Dean had his annual X-ray and blood work, along with the routine pulmonary function test (pft), lung culture and clinic appointment. His X-ray looked fantastic, no major changes from last year and a culture later confirmed that nothing negative was brewing. Even though the day was extremely long, and 9 vials of blood were drawn from him, he still managed to blow the most amount of volume during his pft. He is at the peak of health and we would love to keep him that way. My dad reminded me of something recently when he asked why I think Dean is as healthy as he is. I used to try and explain why but now I have no explanation other than we are thanking God for His ultimate hand in Dean's life. My dad reminded me of something I told him after Grandpa Jerry took Jim and I and Dean to a healing session at his church when Dean was just a few months old. He reminded me that I didn't pray for a cure, I just prayed that he wouldn't get any worse. I am constantly reminded of how God is providing.

The two images below are striking and a great depiction of how hard Dean works to keep his lungs clear; you can see his determination during his lung function test:  his clenched fist, white knuckles and red cheeks. God bless this little man and all those that literally have to fight to be able to breathe.
Please save the date and purchase your tickets today for the Chillin' & Grillin' for a Cure on
