Measuring and Building Institutional Capacity for Investor-State Dispute Settlement in Latin America and the Caribbean (MBIC), Call for Graduate and Law Center RAs

The MBIC project seeks to identify and map LAC countries’ institutional capacity to prevent and manage claims from foreign investors. Current research focuses on identifying countries’ institutional framework, characterizing their leading agency/institution defending the State against these claims, and assessing their capacity to anticipate and prevent an internal grievance from escalating into an international dispute. The project currently involves the analysis of four countries, namely Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, and will eventually expand to focus on 15 LAC countries.
   


On behalf of the 2022 LAFAA Executive Board, we are happy to announce we are opening applications, and if necessary elections, for the 2023 Executive Board. We encourage everyone to apply for the open positions and look forward to reviewing your applications.

As a member of Audible’s Content Planning & Operations Team, you will manage the collection and assembly of production assets for licensed and original content for the emerging Audible marketplace in Brazil. This role will be focused on fostering good working relationships with internal and external partners, coordinating end-to-end business processes with local content teams, and performing data entry and maintenance within several key databases. You will collaborate with internal and external partners in order to create, streamline, and systematize data and processes; monitor and share progress; and build positive, scalable partnerships internally and externally.


Kalmanovitz Initiative Spring Intern, Georgetown's Center of Advancement for Rule of Law in the Americas

Each semester, KI recruits Georgetown students who are dedicated to social justice to work with local and national groups advocating for working people through its Organizing Internship, and Research in Action Internship.

The Organizing Internship provides an opportunity for students to observe the impact of community and labor organizing, support and contribute to ongoing campaigns and projects, and develop their own organizing skills. Meanwhile, the Research in Action Internship provides students the opportunity to learn from leaders in the world of workers’ rights, support and contribute to ongoing campaigns and research projects, and develop their own research skills.

Office of Language Services, U.S. Department of State

The Office of Language Services (LS) supports the interpreting and translating needs of the State Department, the White House, and other federal agencies, primarily at the diplomatic level. 

Our office is seeking a contract Program Officer to support recruiting, testing, and training efforts as part of a special initiative to expand these important elements of the office’s work. LS is looking for a detail-oriented project manager who can work effectively in teams and individually. 

The position will support multiple teams by coordinating and managing administrative details related to recruiting, testing, and training. The ideal candidate will have experience in coordinating and tracking multiple ongoing projects, ensuring projects meet timeline and budget goals, organizing and synthesizing information from multiple sources, and communicating needs and progress in support of achieving project goals. 

The position is eligible for up to 100% telework and requires a candidate to obtain a Secret level clearance.

Program Associate, Latin America and the Caribbean, Center For International Private Enterprise

This full-time, regular, non-exempt position is based in the Washington D.C. . The Program Associate, Latin American and Caribbean (LAC), will have the responsibility of providing administrative support to the CIPE team working on programs in Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The position requires a dedication to assisting a large team and its programs, including staff in Washington D.C., field offices, and international consultants.

This will include working with programmatic staff to develop written and multimedia content relating to human rights and social justice in Latin America, managing an editorial calendar, and pitching stories to media outlets in the U.S. and Latin America. Events and Communications Administrator, CLAS

Call for applicants!  Do you miss CLAS and wish you could contribute to our initiatives -- and be compensated for doing so?  CLAS seeks a temporary, part-time administrator to help with events, communications, and general Center support.  BA/BS required; interest in and knowledge of Latin America, and Spanish language skills, strongly preferred.  The incumbent will be fully integrated into the CLAS team, working 20 hours a week until June 30, 2023.  The schedule is flexible, networking opportunities abound, and the community is wonderful!  Please reach out to Julie McMurtry at julie.mcmurtry@georgetown.edu if you are interested.  We look forward to hearing from you!
