President's Message
How wonderful is our lodge and all our members!!
May was a special month here at the lodge.  We had meetings and lefse parties and meatball parties and roll parties and kransekaker stick parties and krumkake parties and kitchen prep parties—all leading up to our fabulous meatball dinner on the 14th and the extraordinary Syttende Mai celebration on the 15th.  The Vendor Fair, Taste of Norway, and Beer Garden Membership Drive were all well attended and very successful.  Even the weather stepped up and gave us a perfect day!  The day was completed with one of the Vikings’ special bonfires.
A special thank you goes to Ingunn and Colin Kuester and to Lizbeth Doving for coming up with the idea of a special Syttende Mai celebration when Viking Fest was cancelled again.  There was also an impromptu parade on Sunday afternoon.  A HUGE thank you also goes to all our wonderful members who volunteered hours and hours of their time to make the celebration such fun and so very successful.
A special thank you to the members who continue to step up and volunteer to make scrumptious dinners for our membership on Friday nights.  We have been treated to some fine cuisine and there are more planned in the coming months.  Be sure to come on down and join in the fun.  We have a new program, thanks to covid, for ordering dinner online so give that a try.
Speaking of the future, June is busting out all over.  Can you believe we are nearly half way through 2021 already?  Did you know there are nearly 160 “National Days” in June—such things as Olive Day and Go Barefoot Day, Moonshine Day and Hug your Cat Day!  There’s something for everyone so be sure to celebrate with friends.
June is looking like it will be a busy time here at the lodge.  It is such fun to watch as things are opening up and members are more comfortable coming in and sharing evenings with friends.  We are also beginning to get requests for rentals.  That is so important to the health of our lodge.  As the rooms become busy, it will be important to have a good core of volunteers.  Whatever your talent, please consider volunteering here at the lodge.  If you haven’t been contacted and would like to help, just call the office and let us know.  The more volunteers we have, the easier it is on everyone.
Look, it’s a New Dawn, a New Day!  (Who said that?)
Fred være med deg til neste måned

This Old Lodge
The Building Association is looking for at least two new directors to fill three-year terms.  We are looking for persons with skills like general contractors, plumbers, and electricians to build and repair and work to keep the lodge building in good shape.  Nominations are being accepted and elections to happen during June 8th lodge meeting.
The lodge insurance premium is paid up for this year covering all the activities we plan to undertake.  For instance, the highly successful Taste of Norway weekend volunteer run and organized for our lodge Syttende Mai celebration that included Beer garden, Bazaar, Bonfire, and Food.  It is expensive to run the lodge (just ask our Treasurer), and it takes about $25,000 to insure our building and its people and contents from loss and liability.  If you are interested in donating funds or volunteering to help the lodge raise income in order to operate, let one of our board members know.
Thanks to past president Skip Walsh and Sandi Walsh for pressure washing the upper parking lot, sidewalks and Trolls’ Den deck, with an assist from Vice President Mike Dudley a few weeks ago.  It all looks great, thank you!
The kitchen equipment has been repaired and recalibrated courtesy of Ladies Club to make our future cooking and preparing of great lodge food for our members and community.  I hope you all can come down and enjoy the lodge when you can.
Sincerely,
Paul Anunson
Building Association Chairman

Friday Night Dinners
Ordering online for Friday Night Dinners has been very successful, not only in that patrons may secure their meals beforehand, but the kitchen crew may better plan their shoppings lists.

We are glad that more guests are returning to the Trolls' Den for Friday Night Dinners; thus, we will halt the "take out" option for online ordering.  "Take out" will be available when meals are available to the public, such as our popular "Taste of Norway" dinners.  Thank you all for your participation in the online ordering process that was implemented at the start of COVID.
