Poulsbo Sons of Norway 2-44 - President's Message
Greetings & Salutations!
September—Symbolically a time of refocusing, reflecting, re-evaluating.  It’s the perfect time to appoint a Nominating Committee to come up with a slate of officers to take our lodge forward on a successful journey through 2022.  If you would like to be on the Nominating Committee, please call the office and let Christina know before the lodge meeting on September 14th .  OR—consider serving on the Board of Directors next year.  Once the Nominating Committee is finalized, you can let them know if you would like to be included on the slate of officers.  Some of your current board members have indicated they hope to serve again next year but there will be several open positions for the 2022 term.  I am hopeful that, as you refocus and reflect on where you are and would like to be in 2022, you will summon your inner power and share your new blood and new ideas on the board as we move forward.  Active members will make a successful lodge.
September—rather like Ecclesiastes, there’s a time of endings (summer, warm sunshine, flowers, fruits, green leaves, etc.) and a time of beginnings (Autumn, fall colors, football, school, rainy days, windstorms, family gatherings for holidays, and all).  The Romans thought September was protected by the God of Fire so they always anticipated earthquakes and volcanos during what was, at the time, the seventh month.  Yes, that’s right, September was the 7th month on the Roman calendar (Septem means 7).  It became the 9th month when January and February were added to make the Gregorian calendar.
September—Who out there knows how the month of May is similar to our 9th month?  Oh, OK, I will tell you and not make you wait until the next newsletter.  In May, we celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day on the 17th of May (Syttende Mai) and in September we celebrate USA Constitution Day on the 17th of September.  Keep that trivia in mind and join the teams on Thursday nights—the question could come up!  A question that does come up every now and then is “What does EPCOT stand for?”
September—one last thing about this month, we will be celebrating National Grandparents Day, National Cheese Pizza Day and National Drink-a-Beer Day among other National and International Days.  Bring your friends and join other lodge members at the Trolls’ Den to have fun and renew friendships after our long, lonely Covid days.
Remember--it’s a New Dawn, it’s a New Day, it’s a New Life!
Fred være med deg til neste måned

BYLAWS REVISION:  We have received a revised format for our lodge bylaws from International.  They have designed the template so that all of the lodges will have bylaws in the same format.  We are not revising our bylaws at the current time except to include in the new format the change that our lodge previously approved to allow electronic notification.    We will be filling out the template to present at our lodge meeting and then submit that format to International for approval.

July Kubb Champions
The first annual lodge Kubb Tournament was held on sunny July 10.  The individual knockout tournament came down to a nailbiter finale between Sherry White and Rob Manos, with Rob emerging victorious. Colin Kuester and Mike Dudley then upset the two individual finalists to claim the doubles crown. Congratulations to the winners! And thank you to all who participated.

Due to popular demand, the second annual Kubb Tournament will be September 11 at 4 PM. See flier nearby.

TROLLS' DEN MESSAGE:  Due to the awesome popularity of our Friday Night dinners, the bar staff requests that you please limit your bar orders between the hours of 5:30 and 6:30 to beer, wine, and simple cocktails in order to help alleviate the lines we've been experiencing.  No specialty or time-intensive drinks will be mixed during that hour.  Thank you for your patience and your patronage.

It’s time to appoint a Nominating Committee for a slate of officers for 2022.  If you would like to be on the committee, please call the lodge office before 9/14  OR—consider serving on the Board of Directors next year.  Once the Nominating Committee is finalized, you may let them know if you would like to be included on the slate of officers.
