Hej all,
What a great month at the lodge we finished! I am so proud of the efforts of all the members who helped put on a first-rate Lutefisk dinner last Saturday. Lots of coordination and details and the results were fantastic! We served the most people ever, with customers even flying in to have dinner with us. Having the seating times and online ordering so people were assured that they would be served has been a positive step in our preparation and planning for this annual tradition. Thanks to the members who came and bought a dinner in support of the lodge, thank you for finding parking and making the effort to join us. And thanks to those dishwashers after the event, the mountain of pots and pans and plates was an epic undertaking!
This month we look forward to being a part of a new city celebration of Frosty Fest. The lodge is hosting a book reading on Vikings in the Marine Room on Friday the 10th, and our Vikings are planning their Valisblot bonfire on the 11th, all a part of the community coming together and enjoying this little town on Liberty Bay. Aren’t you glad to have a membership at the lodge to have a place to be and relax between experiencing the town events, shopping, eating, and fun? Saturday, February 25th, will be Nordic Heritage Day for adults, for members interested in genealogy, food, drink, and craft, $50 covers lunch and supplies for the day. Then the fourth Tuesday at 6 pm will be a cultural freeform night called “Ingeborg Society” with a time to do some crafts, knitting, or talking up your heritage with fellow members. Come to the Friday Night Dinners as they are available, too. Lots going on, come join us.
With a lodge as large as ours, with members young and old, I see those who show kindness, courteousness, and understanding and I appreciate it! It is so important that we keep it a comfortable place for all of us to be. Members asking who is using the room after they use it and how can the cleanup happen so the next thing can go smoother is a wonderful thing! Many are asking how they can volunteer, and I am sure we can find something for you to do! There’s a lot of momentum going right now, and I see many opportunities to be involved in the coming months, both in raising money and enhancing the culture, for the good and vitality of the lodge we enjoy.
See you down at the lodge!
