Hej all,
It is a time of Thanksgiving as we say goodbye to November and start December and finish the year at the lodge. I am reminded of how we come together during the holiday season, enjoy our community, and invite others to participate with us in celebration. I know the work is sometimes hard but hopefully it is worth it to make something good and memorable in our Sons of Norway lives.
I am thankful for the board of directors serving and leading the lodge to a financially positive year in the black. For the Building Association board working to keep the building together and improved on a limited budget. To the committees of Lodge Update Committee, Trolls’ Den Advisory Committee, and Food Services Committee for their advice and management of special projects throughout the year. For the staff of the lodge that keep us running the lodge and bar with professionalism. For the Vikings and Leikarringen youth dancers representing the lodge well in the community as the lodge’s auxiliary groups. I am grateful for the woodcarvers, coffee guys, needle workers, adult folk dance, and Vestre Sund Mannskor (men’s choir) for making available the culture of Norway through experience, craft, and skill. Thanks to those who have contributed to the financial health of the lodge through Trolls’ Den, Friday Night Dinners, Sunday breakfasts, Taste of Norway, and Room rentals.
I am so very thankful, working with all of you to make this lodge a place to be and belong. These are the things that add to the character and warmth of the lodge. I hope you will come and enjoy the Julefest, Santa breakfast, and Lodge 50^th anniversary party this month. Please note the dates and times in the newsletter and volunteer to help if you can.

Saturday, 12/3, is our annual Julefest with Nordic Market, Taste of Norway and Viking Bonfire with Lucia Procession. Lots of food servers are still needed, so please sign up here.

Friday, 12/9, is our Trolls' Den classic Chicken Fried Steak by Rhonda. We'll have some fun by offering silent auction baskets for your generous bidding to support our Building Association.

Tuesday, 12/13, our Leikarringen youth dance performers will present their beautiful Lucia Procession, specially for our lodge members.

Saturday, 12/19, all lodge members are welcome to the Marine Room for our Trolls' Den 50th Birthday Bash Disco Christmas Party. This is the final celebration in the series of FIFTY years of enjoying our lodge! Many thanks to Trolls' Den Advisory Committee and bar staff for organizing all of the celebratory events.

Our newly-formed garden club was busy this November. Becky Siegrist, Sandi Walsh, Susan Wytko, Marta Maxwell, Theresa Vincent, Mel Morgan, accomplished these tasks:
* Both beds were weeded and bushes/plants were trimmed.
* Cracks were cleaned out in the patio area, sidewalk and upper parking lot..
* Debris was cleaned up in the patio area, sidewalk, and upper parking lot.
* Some holly with berries was placed in planters in the lower patio area.

We are looking for suggestions for a Norsk (Norwegian) name for this important around-the-grounds garden tidying crew -- please help us with a name!
Also, mange takk (many thanks) to Karen Zabinski and Marvin Crosland who installed the white twinkly lighted trees in the planters for a festive Nordic winter look!

Snow Policy
When North Kitsap Schools are closed due to inclement weather the lodge will be closed. On weekends, holidays and evenings, call the Trolls’ Den to confirm (360-779-2384). Check Facebook or the website for last minute changes.
