Dean's Holiday Message

As the University of Maine wraps up its celebration of its 150th anniversary year, it is a good time to look back on the role of the engineering at this great institution.  When the University was founded, there were just three majors: civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and agricultural arts.  There were just six members of the first graduating class and four of these were engineers.  The very first graduate of the University of Maine was civil engineer Benjamin Gould - with only six graduates "G" was good enough to be first alphabetically!
