Hosting ASUio Visiting Venture Founder Finalists

Who: All ASU student entrepreneurs who may be willing to host our visiting ASUio semi-finalist venture founders in their apartments or homes are eligible to opt in. To be eligible to host visiting founders, you must have available sleeping space in the form of beds, couches, or air mattresses. Guests must also have access to a full bathroom with a shower during their stay. Hosts are not required to provide food or transportation.  

What: We are actively seeking student founders who are interested in hosting visiting tech startup founders during the ASU Innovation Open (ASUio) finals in February 2023.

When: Visiting founder hosting would be between Thursday, February 9th, through Sunday, February 12th.

Where: You would do the hosting in your own apartment or home. Selected hosts will also be invited to all ASUio VIP events (e.g., semi-finalist networking mixers, meals, outings, etc.) throughout the competition proceedings (TBA).

Why: This is a great way to meet student founders from other schools across the nation - and across the globe!

Next Steps: An ASUio staff member will contact all potential hosts for additional details and coordination.

Apply to Compete in the Rice Business Plan Competition


Who: All of ASU's Top Innovators and Entrepreneurs.

What:  The Rice Business Plan Competition (RBCP) showcases the best university startups from all across the U.S. and the World. This competition provides student entrepreneurs the experience of pitching their venture and learning what it takes to build and launch a successful business. Students will compete to find investors and win their share in over $1+ million in prizes. The RBPC is looking for teams with at least two current student founders pursuing a graduate degree (MA, Ph.D., etc.) and fall into one of the following 5 sectors: Energy, Cleantech & Sustainability, Life Science & Healthcare Solutions, Hard Tech, Digital Enterprise, or Consumer Products & Services.

When:  Info Session: 1/11/2023 at 3 PM Arizona Time (4 PM CT)
             Application Deadline: 2/28/2023
             Competition: 5/11-13/2023

Why: RBPC allows your venture to gain real-world experience, receive mentorship, feedback, and guidance from investors and entrepreneurs, and network with other founders.

ASU Tech Startup Happy Hour
Powered by ASU E+I @ Fulton, Hool Coury Law, and the Fulton Faculty Founders Squad (3FS)


Who: ASU’s top and aspiring tech venture founders, including faculty spinout founders, and management team members are invited. The event will feature an informal round of introductions (or lightning venture pitches) by all in attendance.

What: E+I @ Fulton Startup Happy Hour powered by Hool Coury Law, is a monthly networking opportunity for all ages. Complimentary appetizers and soft drinks will be provided, and a hosted bar will be available to all innovators over 21.

When:  Friday, January 13, 2023; 3-5 pm

Where: Downtown Tempe – Canopy by Hilton Hotel, 108 E University Dr, Tempe, AZ 85281; in the “Mural Room” at Alter Ego Restaurant -

Change the World

Who: All of ASU's Top Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Changemakers.

What: Change the World is a celebration of student imagination, efforts, and achievements in making the world a better place. The event has four ways to participate: Art Exhibits, Exhibitions, Pitch Competitions, and Talent Performances. Please check the attached slide deck for more information on each way you can participate. 

When: March 15, 2023, at 5 pm

Where: Sun Devil Stadium

Why: This is a great event to showcase how students are changing the world and help connect students to local professionals to help continue building on their ideas.
