1. South American Tours
Flights to South America Slashed!
The great news for those contemplating travel to South America is that a price war has broken out between airlines flying from Australia to South America.
This is wonderful news since flights are normally expensive and a cosy monopoly exists between the airlines.
Current prices for travellers from the Australian east coast to Santiago, Chile (the hub for nearly all arrivals) start at around $1,500 (return Economy per Qantas). Premium Economy, which is really very comfortable, is also about half price at around $2,800.
Secondly, new flights are commencing – e.g. from the 10th October 2017, direct flights are available from and to Melbourne which are much quicker and more convenient for many.
Internal flights have also been re-structured and we are pleased to state that we will now cover the cost of the flight from Santiago to Lima in Peru for those taking the Peru tour.
A Unique Opportunity
Our October 2017 tours provide the last opportunity to join these unique tours to South America. This is the last time that we will have access to a range of wonderful gardens by the famed designer Juan Grimm – the leading designer in South America!
But for many, the gardens of Roberto Burle Marx in Brazil are even more important and again, our special tours gain access to many private properties and this tour is probably the last time that these gardens will also be available to our friends.
Unfortunately, almost all of the best gardens in South America are private and access is strictly limited to friends etc of owners.
If you haven’t been to South America, these tours provide the best possible introduction and the trip of a lifetime! So please consider joining Warwick and Sue Forge, Peter Watts, Trisha Dixon, Clive Lucas and others for this wonderful experience!
Additional images, endorsements and updates are also available on our website.
If you are interested, we suggest you explore the prospect now since flight prices are greatly reduced, an Early Bird discount is available and some privileged options may only be available for early registrations.

We were very sad to learn from Rio de Janeiro that Haruyoshi Ono, who had emigrated to Brazil in his youth, passed away on 22nd January, 2017, from a "cranial hemorrhage" at the age of 73.
Haruyoshi survived Roberto Burle Marx to become the senior partner of the firm which has remained continuously in practice to this day. On our first visit to the offices of the company, Haruyoshi greeted us with great dignity and charm even though he does not speak English.
He maintained a profound interest in the heritage of the firm and greatly assists in maintaining the condition and ambience of a number of key gardens designed by Burle Marx (sometimes with design input from Haruyoshi).
On one occasion, we suggested that the condition of the ‘Sitio’ – former estate of Burle Marx – had deteriorated and Haruyoshi heard of this and took steps to ensure that its shortcomings were quickly rectified.
