President's Message

2020 continues to test our ability to adapt to an ever changing environment and everyone who donates their time to the Wisconsin Arabian Horse Association has worked extremely hard to help the association though these times.  Our membership numbers fell again this year, and we hope it was just due to the lack of opportunities to exhibit our horses and that when the pandemic finally starts to reside, the numbers will go back up to where we were. We continue to try and find ways to engage those who do not exhibit at sanctioned shows and give them a reason to belong to our association.

We have already started the planning process for our annual meeting and our ability to communicate with our membership electronically will be more important than ever. Since this newsletter is only sent to those that subscribe, please remind your friends and family to login to their AHA account and make sure their contact information is correct so we can reach every member with information. This is a big election year for the association. The executive board (president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer), several board seats, and regional delegate position all need to be elected this year. Our association has always had a strong history of volunteering and that tradition carries on today. We are always looking for new voices and opinions to help steer the association forward. If you have questions, please contact any board member and talk to them about their service and how you can help shape WAHA for the future.

Judge's Bio: Tracy Lynch
2020 Fall Colors Open Show
Since being born, Tracy has been involved in the Arabian horse community. It started at the young age of 1 1/2 yrs old when she was entered in her first lead line class with her father, professional horse trainer, Dan Lynch. She has taken her showing path on to multiple National Top Tens, Regional Championships and 2 Reserve Canadian National Championships. To say horses run in Tracy’s blood would be an understatement. Today, Tracy enjoys many different activities on her beloved Arabians. Most recently exploring the mountains of Montana.

In her “spare” time, for the past 23 years, Tracy sells Real Estate in the greater Madison, WI area. Tracy has also volunteered on her local fire department for the last 12 years.

The part Tracy enjoys most when judging is watching the beauty and athleticism of our beautiful Arabians as well as the love we all have for these beautiful creatures!
Youth Bio: Ainsley Stapelfeldt
WAHA Youth President
The 2020 WAHA Youth President is Ainsley Stapelfeldt. Ainsley is a junior at Stoughton High School. She very literally "grew up in the barn" and has been riding horses her entire life - most of that time has included riding and showing Arabian horses. She primarily shows her Purebred Arabian, Louis Vuitton BF, in hunter pleasure and sidesaddle classes, and the pair had a particularly successful show season last year. She has recently been exploring the working western divisions, so don't be surprised if you see her in anything from a sidesaddle skirt to chinks and spurs!
2020 Arabian Horse Association Convention
The annual Arabian Horse Association convention for 2020 will be held virtually, November 16th-21st. This provides a unique opportunity for those who may not typically attend the AHA convention to get involved.

WAHA Annual Meeting Update
The board of directors have opted to have a virtual annual meeting in 2021. Details are still being finalized, but the annual meeting should take place in January of 2021. Elections for the executive board and board of directors will be held. Details are still being finalized, but please make sure that all contact information is up to date through the AHA website so that we are able to effectively communicate the details of the meeting to you.

WAHA Point System

There is still time to get involved with the WAHA Point System for the 2020 show season! Several changes to the program were made this year, including:

  • Reduced and reviewed categories based on entry and showing trends
  • A *FREE* virtual show division for 2020 due to the COVID pandemic
  • A *FREE* entry into the age division for each associate or full WAHA member
  • A flat rate entry into all show divisions and the WAHA Legion of Merit Program
  • Inclusion of “closed” classes and shows, like National Show Horse or Fall Fest
  • One point per mile ridden for trail riding division
  • Online submissions available for show results!

There are a few other minor changes. Your new committee looks forward to serving the members in this exciting program. Feedback, of course, is always welcomed and taken into consideration.
