Kelly and Sue Corbett, along with their friend Donna, recently returned from a trip to Vietnam. They took several cars made by the Brighton Smile Shop to share with the kids during their two-week stay. Sue said that kids' parents and grandparents came to her hotel to thank her personally. We want to thank the Brighton Smile Shop, along with the Eagle View Adult Center in Colorado, for helping create smiles for so many children in Vietnam.

A special note from Kristen and her husband, Sprite Chuenchum, who went to Thailand with a project called “Friends of the City” where they worked to make life better for the inner-city poor in the city’s slums.

“We write you to share the story of the slum community and the children with whom we shared your toys. This community holds a very special place in both our hearts. The community’s name is Samakki Pattana. Sprite for 6 years and I for 3 ½ years lived in this slum. It was where we began ministry to the poor, where we met, dated, fell in love, and eventually spent our first year of marriage. When we received your toys, we knew this was exactly where we wanted to go first. We tell you all of this so that you know what a huge impact you are making. Your toys and the inscription that points to God’s love is the only straightforward, clear remainder of a Christian testimony to these kids. Here are some photos from our day in Samakki Pattana and the joy you put on these kids’ faces with your wooden cars. They LOVED them! They were so happy to get to play with them! They loved that each one was different. I got to explain that they are all different because all of God’s kids are different and that is beautiful!”

Bruce Lawson and John Chart (Denver Smile Shop) worked hand in hand with a senior group at St. Andrews assembling cars that ended up in the hands of children in Nogales, Mexico.

A special message from Lilliane Brantes, DDS:
“Hello Marlin and awesome team at Toys for God's Kids. Our dental team distributed 350 little wooden cars to the children we treated at our clinic in Guatemala this last week. Children were lining up at the door asking for the little cars. At our clinic, kids who cannot afford dental work receive complete care. Many of our young patients come to us with enormous needs and many infected teeth. I have to admit some of the children came in such awful shape that I used the cars to bribe them into cooperating. It is difficult having to do multiple extractions on a six-year-old child who comes in with so much pain already. My funniest moment came when a little guy, on seeing my forceps once again coming at him cried out I NEED A THIRD CAR!!!  And thanks to you all, we got the job done! Thank you so much for spreading joy all over the world.“

The Michigan Hollanders Smile Shop want to share the pictures below of children in Peru, along with the note: “This is definitely a TFGK Smilemaker gift to see how Gods children of the world, are blessed by one man’s vision. Thank you Marlin Dorhout for starting this ministry that goes around the world every year.“

Art Miedema and Don Lanting from the Byron Center Smile Shop in Michigan recently donated cars that were distributed by a team of 14 people from Byron Center and Fremont churches who visited Kenya at the En-Gedi Children’s Home. The home is for handicapped children whose parents are not able to care for them. The caregivers and children extend their deep thanks for the beautifully crafted cars and the joy they bring to the children.

Michael J. Calamia, missionary to South Africa through AWA (A World Aware), took three boxes of unfinished cars supplied by the Broomfield Smile Shop. Michael writes; “It was fun to tell the story and more fun to see the children understand that God provides what we need for every task. The craft was to use finger paints to decorate their individual car. This is where the laughter and chuckles became riotous. In the end, everyone had their own personal transport to remind them to follow God’s plan the first time. I have put up a gallery on our website; please check it out. Many blessings as you continue to serve the Kingdom Kids in your special way.”
Take time to check out their website with the many happy faces as the children enjoy the small wooden cars. D
on’t miss out on a couple of short video clips at the end that includes their personal thank you. It’s sure to make you smile. http://aworldaware.org/galleries/Toys4GodsKids/album/index.html
