Read on for inspiration from one of last year's winners, Instagram Takeovers, and details on nominating lecturer and course of the year.

Sian Oliver's image (above) won Best in Category - Things in the 2016 Student Awards, and I caught up with her to find out how winning has helped her photographic future.
"Winning the AOP student award category helped my confidence massively. It made me realise that the hard work I put into the images I was producing at the time had paid off. It bought me a lot of social media attention and really helped to get my work out to the public."

AOP Student Awards: Call for Entries

Call for entries has been open for a little over a week, and we have already been receiving some great entries! Entries are open until 8th April 2017.

The three categories this year are People, Places & Things, and our judges, Rachell Smith, Howard Kingsnorth & Karl Taylor, will select a Best in Category plus an overall Best in Show. Our categories can be as flexible as you need them to be, so everyone's work will fit a brief.

This year the Awards are sponsored by Fixation and Flow Photographic, plus the presentation will take place at DAM; Downstairs at Mother London, a leading creative agency.

Don't forget that as an AOP Student member, you enjoy the discounted rate of entry!

Full information and details can be found here.

Don't Forget! Lecturer and Course of the Year Awards

If you are a student of one of our AOP affiliated courses, you can make nominations for lecturer and course of the year. This is a great chance to highlight a particular staff member who has gone above and beyond in the department, and to get your course the recognition it deserves!

Full criteria and how to nominate can be found here under the 'Categories' heading.
In the coming weeks I will be bringing news on the prizes for the awards, as well as announcing exclusive competitions to run alongside the awards; so keep your eyes peeled.

We can't wait to see what you've been working on, good luck everyone!

Best,
