Together we served 70,000+ Meals & Snacks To 10,000+ Clients This Ramadan
Dear MY Project USA Family,
Tonight, as we wrapped up our Eid pantry after serving 260 families in one day, we are tired; our bodies are sored; but our hearts are filled with happiness and gratitude. We know we have done our very best in serving our people. Alhamdulillah. All praise is due to God.
Even though we are still compiling our Ramadan impact report, we could tell you without any hesitation that this year, we might have broken our own previous records of the number of clients and the food delivered within a singular month by us or any other Muslim social services organization in Ohio.
To our Muslim friends, we wish you Hearty Eid Greetings. May you have a blessed Eid with your loved ones. May God accept all your prayers and good deeds in the month of Ramadan and afterward. May your donations and other contributions to MY Project USA become a source of continued charity for you and your family.
To our non-Muslim friends, we wish you as well a blessed weekend filled with happiness and joy with your families and loved ones. May God reward you immensely and keep us united as we fight against poverty, hunger, violence and other issues within our communities.
In Solidarity with Youth & Families,
Founder & Executive Director
Watch the U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown speaking to the guests at the Columbus Interfaith Ramadan Iftar on June 10th, 2018. We are honored and humbled by his kind words and his support to our organization.
By the grace of God, Columbus Interfaith Ramadan Iftar iwas an inspiring event with our esteemed guests and brothers and sisters from different faiths and walks of life. Special Thanks to Councilwoman Jaiza Page, State Representative Adam Miller, Angie Plummer of Community and Refugee Immigration Services, Amber Evans of Juvenile Justice Coalition and Rhiannon Childs Women's March on Washington - Ohio Chapter for gracing our events with their presence and wise words.
The respected Councilmember Jaiza Page presented the Resolution of Expression to our Founder & Executive Director Zerqa Abid on behalf of Councilmember Elizabeth Brown and the rest of the Columbus City Council on this occasion. The Legislative Aide of Councilmember Elizabeth Brown, Kels Ellingsen represented Councilmember Brown at this event.
As far as the fundraiser is concerned, we need $100,000 as a contribution from our side as we work in the partnership of the Columbus City Council and some other partners in initiating a more comprehensive soccer program and continuing other initiatives that could take care of as many as possible of the 2000 kids in the year round programs. We have raised about $50,000 by now. We need another $50,000. We are going to launch our Soccer initiative in coming weeks with the hope that the community will continue supporting us and we will raise the rest of the money in coming weeks and months, God willing.
After Fasting 5K last weekend, several youth have asked us how they could help in addressing the issues on the West Side of Columbus. We have created this campaign for them. We are in need of at least 400 balls for 7-14 year old boys in Wedgewood.
We are planning to distribute them at the Wedgewood Eid Festival on June 24th. The boys will be encouraged to play with the police cops at the festival. Each kid will receive a gift of ball after playing for 15 minutes with a cop.
We believe, this will be a great way to bring them closer to police in a friendly environment. Owning a ball would be their first step to get involve with our program. Our sports programs are meant to keep them busy in fields and away from drugs and gangs. They will also have an opportunity to register in our Soccer or Basketball programs at the same time.
In this campaign, we are inviting youth and their families or a youth team/club to take lead in raising money, collecting balls and seeking sponsors to get as many balls as they could. They can create their own fundraiser, or Facebook event for this campaign. The top three winners of this campaign will receive a gift from elected officials on the Day of Eid Festival, June 24th.
The deadline to submit the balls is June 23rd, noon. The interested youth/family/club MUST REGISTER with our office before starting their campaign. Any Campaign that is launched to support any of our initiatives without our permission would be considered illegal.
