MY Project USA Joins Forces with Deah Barakat's Family: The Opening of MY Deah's Goodwill Stores in Two States
Deah Barakat's Legacy Takes Another Leap: MY Deah's Goodwill Stores To Protect & Empower Muslim American Youth.
It is our pleasure and honor to announce the opening of MY Deah’s Goodwill Stores, a new initiative of MY Project USA.
If you have been a part of MY Project USA 's family for some time, and you have also known Our Three Winners, the victims of the Chapel Hill shooting past February, you must have recognized by now that most things that we have done so far is what our beloved Deah, Yusor and Razan were involved in during their short but highly productive and blessed lives. They were the best of America. They were the cream of the American Youth. They were all about giving back to the community and helping refugees, homeless and needy. Their dedication to their community and humanity was exemplary. That's exactly why last Ramadan we pledged to grow more youth like them, with community's help. Now it’s an honor and privilege for MY Project USA to have the Barakat family as our partner in protecting and empowering Muslim American youth, helping the refugees, and the less fortunate community members in the USA. We thank Allah, the almighty first and Mr. Namee Barakat, Deah's father, later for his support. We have honored Mr. Barakat's wish to name this store as “MY Deah’s Goodwill Store,” and we are thrilled about it. Our youth are super excited to have these blessed souls as a part of our MY Project USA team.
Currently, we have two stores in North Carolina (Raleigh and Garner), and we are opening one in Columbus, Ohio, this month. The income from these stores will help support all of our existing and future initiatives, inshaAllah. While we look forward to reaping the profit from these stores, at the moment we are concerned about paying the rent, utility bills and salaries of the current employees that we are responsible to pay for starting this month. We would still like to remind you that your monthly support is even more needed to sustain all of our existing initiatives and to grow more.
We are organizing volunteers and training youth to help run the stores. If you are interested to help at any of our locations as a volunteer, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
