Unprecedented Record Set By Columbus Muslim Youth Of MY Project USA - Recognized By The City Council
We have a great news to share. Councilmember Priscilla Tyson has invited the Executive Team and the volunteers of MY Family Pantry to the City Hall. They will be recognized for their extraordinary service at the City Council meeting on Monday, December 16th, 2019. Meeting starts at 5 pm.
We ask the entire community to join us at this joyous occasion. If you are in Columbus, please come to show your support to these amazing student volunteers.
Last month marked the third anniversary of our partnership with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and the grand kickoff of our food pantry: MY Family Pantry. In these three years (156 weeks), we closed on one Saturday only due to to severe snow storm. We have served more than 2.5 million meals and snacks to more than 90,000 individuals. Our pantry is hundred percent led and managed by youth volunteers, mostly college and highschool students. The pantry is open on every single Saturday serving an average of 10,000 pounds of food to about 150 families lately.
This is an amazing achievement and service to the community by our youth. None of this was possible without the help of Sr. Dorothy Hassan and some extra ordinary youth who worked very hard for months to establish the pantry in the early stages when we lacked the right equipment and labor power to execute such an enormous project. It was also not possible without the support of our generous donors who help us pay the rent and utilities of MY Deah's store that houses the pantry. May Allah taala immensely reward each one of them.
We invite the entire Columbus community to come out to support our youth and to thank Councilmember Tyson and the rest of the City Council for this recognition.
For those of you who have already contributed and plan to continue supporting in any way, THANK YOU!
For those of you who have not joined this caravan yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
This is your chance to join this blessed caravan of community care-takers. This is your project. Help us by paying the rent and utilities of MY Deah's store that houses this pantry. Help us by monthly or one-time donations so we could expand our pantry to more clients with more food and goods. Consider becoming a monthly donor for just $25/month and help us provide with more dry staples for large families with children.
We appreciate your presence in our organization. With God;s blessings, together we have saved 54,194 children from hunger. Together we cam do so much more. To continue your support, please Donate on Facebook or Donate online or via mail.
Soccer Teams Continue To Rise & Empower More Youth In Hilltop Area
Great Volunteer Opportunity For Soccer Coaches
Thanks to the President Pro Tem Elizabeth Brown for her leadership and the rest of the City Council for supporting our grant for soccer in the Wedgewood area. Council President Shannon Hardin, CM Rob Dorans, CM Shayla Favor, CM Emmanuel Remy and CM Mitchell Brown co-sponsored this grant and made the funding to run a round the year soccer program in the Hilltop/ Wedgewood Area.
In Fall season, our teams played in the Ohio Champions League. Our U11 boys played 6 games. They won 2 games tied 1 and lost 2. Our U15 won 3 games tied 1 and lost 1. Please click below to see full report by Coach Siyat Mohamed.
In addition to daily practices and games in the league. Coach Mohamed also takes care of their everyday needs, academic progress and development. We have now extended the program beyond Wedgewood residents. We now have some new players and a volunteer coach from Latino community in our team now. This diversity is only strengthening our players in so many ways and we are loving it.
