This Is How We Protect & Empower Our Community!

Dear Community,

We are working day and night to protect and empower the Wedgewood community against Corona Virus.

There are 650 Households, comprised of elderly and more than 2000 children. Our worry is that this entire community can become victim of this pandemic in a very short time. We are doing different things to help prevent that and we need your help.

$75 per Family
300 Families, About 2,100 Individuals
We Need $22,500 For The 1st Round of Help

MY FAMILY PANTRY: Our food pantry serves more than 150 families every Saturday. We provide them with fresh produce and other assorted food as provided by the Mid Ohio Food Bank. In this Corona crises period, we would like to provide them with more dry staples, laundry detergents, soaps and other basic supplies. We started a Facebook Fundraiser last week.

We have conducted a Need Assessment Survey of the Wedgewood community. Thanks to our donors, we have purchased the following items for 300 families: Rice 10 lbs, Lentils 10 lbs, Vegetable oil 1 liter, Laundry Detergent 2 gallons, and Soaps 6 bars, Trash Bags. Due to the lack of funding, we are still scrambling  to buy baby formula, diapers and other essential items for several of our clients. More food and help in different areas have been asked already. We need your support to meet the needs before it is too late.

Extended Community Outreach & Awareness Campaign In Maay Maay Dialect For Somali Bantu Community

Drive-Through Pantry & Door To Door Food Distribution

MY Deah's Store Closed For Customers

In these challenging times of COVID 19 Pandemic, MY Project USA emergency response is in full effect.  The health and safety of our employees, the neighbors that we humbly serve and the volunteers that make it all possible remain an organizational priority.  Transparency is one of the reasons why city officials, community members, and generous donors trust us to do what we do, now more than ever!  Thus far, the following steps have been taken as a response to the current national state of emergency.
  1. MY Deah's Store has been closed for the customers.
  2. MY Family Pantry has become a drive-through pantry for the time being.
  3. A live fundraiser is online to raise funds for dry food staples, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items to be distributed to families in need. We need $22,500 to provide enough basic supplies for a month to these families.
  4. Soccer and Reading programs have been suspended until further notice. Youth Town Hall has been postponed.
  5. A new awareness campaign has been launched in Maay Maay dialect to educate and empower the Somalii Bantu community members in Wedgewood. We are producing short videos of community members to educate each other.
  6. Employees are provided with proper instruction and  individual work areas to implement social distancing. Most meetings are online.
  7. Case in-takes are being done online and over the phone.
  8. Average cost of laundry in this community is about $50/week. We are directly working with Wedgewood Admin and are trying to have laundry services for free for this community so they could wash their clothes as much as they need it. Until that happens, we would like help the most needy families by paying for their laundry. We are working directly with the Wedgeood Youth and community members to identify the families in the most needs.
  9. We will be distributing these supplies over the weekend. This will be in addition to the fresh produce that we pass on Saturday at MY Family Pantry. We need volunteers to help pack the boxes on Friday.
