Hungry children are easy prey. Studies have shown and we have witnessed first hands that children in low-income and poverty struck communities are at high risk in terms of being involved with drugs, pimps and gangs. Holidays are difficult times for kids when no meals are on table, no gifts are under the tree and there is no place to stay warm.
Two years ago, this week, we started MY Family Pantry at a larger level to feed and save such kids and families in Columbus. For the past two years, we have been providing food for more than 100 families every Saturday morning. This pantry is run one hundred percent by the youth volunteers, mostly OSU students. It's the only food pantry in the area that operates every single weekend
With your support, we have passed approximately 1.5 million meals and snacks to about 47,000 clients so far. Mostly fresh produce received from the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. It has changed the food dynamics in the households of our regular clients. It has positively impacted the emotional and physical health of their kids.
As Winter Break is approaching fast, once again we are scrambling to provide enough non-perishable food to large refugee and other needy families with several children. These children are mostly left without food when schools are closed during winter breaks or several snow days during Ohio’s harsh winter. We Need Your Help.
This Thanksgiving, we ask you to please join us again in providing nutritious food not only on this weekend but throughout the year.
Make sure to check it out before you sit down with your family for the Thanksgiving Feast. Make sure to share your blessings with your neighbors by sending your donations before and after the joyous family time you may have.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving. May God always protect and empower you and your loved ones. Ameen.
