MY First Community Leadership Conference:
Never experienced a conference as awesome as this." Faduma Ibrahim, 15
150 activists trained and organized to empower their local and online communities
"I honestly became so inspired and found so many new causes I feel so passionately about, specifically the environmental cause! I never thought about the environmental cause in such a way that the sisters presented it, and the pictures just pushed that further in my mind. I had my sister there and a few of my friends and family the night of the narratives and we honestly went home that night shaking with nervous excitement and wanting to bring that energy back into our mosques and student organizations. I loved how we brought such a DIVERSE group of speakers! So much of the time we as Muslims don't really focus on diversity racially and ethnically specially when it comes to our speaks." Umulkhayr Hassan, Co-President, Columbus State MSA.
This is just on of many remarks that we received from the attendees and speakers of the conference. Alhamdulilah (All praise belongs to God).
More than 150 attendees received trainings ranging from combating ISIS on social media to growing a community garden. Most of them have had signed to join various committees that would address an issue of their choice. As we go forward, we plan to empower them through more trainings and opportunities to give back to their communities. We hope more people would join us as well.
