Columbus Police Department Joins Hands With MY Project USA In Helping Wedgewood Community
Channel 10 & Channel 6 Report on the Wedgewood Spruce Up Day
We are building a Social Change Movement in the Wedgewood Village Apartments on the Westside of Columbus. This community has seen 8 homicides and 17 shootings this year. MY Project USA stepped in and in addition to the simple social services through food pantry and other programs, we started organizing the community. Fast forward 9 months, here we are with the residents led initiatives.
By the Grace of Allah, yesterday's Wedgewood Spruce Up Day One was a great success. Here is a report by abc Channel 6 news. Please Click on the picture to see the full report.

Fun Activities | Potluck | Games | Photo Booth | Gifts
On December 2nd, we celebrated the first year anniversary of our collaboration with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and the formal kick off of our food pantry. We have passed out about 612,000 meals and snacks to more than 26,000 clients this year. This is an amazing achievement of the Executive Committee of MY Family Pantry that is led by Karum Abdulrahman, an OSU student. The committee's leadership is comprised of Bayan Shalash, Farida Eid, Omar Dahshi, Heba Raslan and Zeenet Ahmed. All of them are OSU students and are great role models for our youth. We are truly blessed to have such incredible youth leaders to take care of such an important program of ours.
We were joined by the Columbus City Councilman Michael Stinziano, Hilltop Area Commissioner Bill William M Huffman and other community members to celebrate the first anniversary of MY Family Pantry. We reflected how far the pantry has come and the achievements it has seen. To celebrate, we had fun activities like crafts and a photobooth during regular pantry hours and then we had a potluck for the volunteers and community members after the pantry.
Dayton Muslim Community United Against Domestic Violence
18 Muslim Advocates from Six Different Organizations Trained By MY Project USA & YWCA
On November 18th and 19th. MY Project USA partnered up with YWCA Dayton and trained 18 Muslim adults and youth from 8 different mosques/schools in Dayton.
These individuals are being trained and have committed to act as liaise on between the social workers, agencies, police officers and the Muslim victims of domestic violence in the greater Dayton area. They have also committed to work on the prevention of domestic violence by starting various programs and initiatives in their mosques and other respective social networks.
All advocates were presented with a certificate of completion of the training by YWCA Dayton and MY Project USA. The certificates were presented to them by the CEO of the YWCA Dayton, Shannon Isom and Zerqa Abid, the founder and Executive Director, MY Project USA.
