UPDATE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
I am pleased to announce DBCYA has been successful in obtaining funding support to blast and paint our 29 aged and rusting wharf pillars. After missing out on Immediate Works Grant funding back in April 2020 as the Club did not have the required occupation certification, the DBCYA senior members voted at SGM (July 2020) to commit up to $125,000 of club funds to do these repairs. Shortly afterwards a second round of the Immediate Works Grant was announced and an opportunity presented to obtain said certification to be eligible for this funding round. I’m pleased to advise after quite an involved process, including additional certifications and plumbing modifications, we obtained the required retrospective certification and duly our second application for funding has been approved.
We have been granted $98,000 towards a total project cost of $146,000 (ex GST), including a larger budget for welding but also the install of an additional berthing station near the end of the wharf (access at lower tides), with extended poly pipe pillars and ladder like the existing wharf mid-way berth. This does not include a solid bottom rest at this stage, so this will initially be for quick turnaround access for provisioning etc on the high tide. More info will be provided in due course.
