George and Jill Schmidt Memorial Food Fund

Community Table is so fortunate to have such dedicated
and compassionate volunteers.  One such volunteer was George Schmidt. He began volunteering after he retired and when we were known as the Arvada Food Bank.

In addition to volunteering, George and his wife Jill were long-time supporters, and it was their desire to continue giving to families in need through a generous bequest that created the George and Jill Schmidt Memorial Food Fund.

We are very thankful for their generous and thoughtful bequest that will provide food to families in need for years to come.

About George and Jill Schmidt
George and Jill Schmidt met in England during the Korean War, where they were married. After returning to the United States, they moved west in the late 1950s to settle and raise their family in Arvada.

Jill received her Master of Education from the University of Colorado and became a reading specialist at Wheat Ridge High School for 17 years. George was a mechanical engineer and draftsman who worked for various defense contractors in the area, including Lockheed Martin, Dow Chemical and Sundstrand.

After retiring, George greatly enjoyed volunteering at the original Arvada Food Bank. Jill and George were long-time supporters of the Arvada Food Bank, and it is with great pleasure they can continue giving through this donation.

In Loving Memory

Ralph H. Jacobson, Founder of the ACFB Foundation

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ralph. H. Jacobson, the founder of the ACFB Foundation. Ralph was a loving father and grandfather and believed in a strong sense of community, having founded and supported many nonprofit organizations. For his dedication and generous contributions to helping families in need, a wing at our facility was named after him.

As the founder and chair of the ACFB Foundation, Ralph helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Community Table and its mission. We will truly miss Ralph and his wonderful smile, warmth and compassion. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
