Hello hello hello!

So much happening, so many opportunities!  Keep them coming, keep them coming !

This week we have explored some of the future practices in the innovation management context. In this article Bettina talks about the importance of collaborating with people who think differently in order to achieve innovative outcomes. Also, we have shared a piece about Data Scientists, a key role to enable innovation within organisations.
We hope you enjoy the increasing variety of innovation related content - and we are always delighted to hear form you!
- Your  ILF Team

For some reason not just one but a few job opportunities we felt might be relevant to the ILF Wider Community have come to our attention!

First in the field of academia: Loughborough University London's Institute for Design Innovation is looking  to add two people to their new post-graduate campus development on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. One position is for a Senior Lecturer in Design Innovation/Management, and one for a Lecturer in Design Innovation/Management.

The second is with Allianz Insurance, who by the way are a member of Innovators Anonymous, the ILF’s Networking Group, who are looking for an Innovation Manager, who will be running Innovation campaigns, contributing to key events and working with the business on innovation initiatives. Two more opportunities! Both of them are with Katerva, a charity and amazing organisation whose mission is to find, evaluate and accelerate disruptive sustainable innovations from around the world.  They are looking for interns (several of them) who can support them with the application to the Katerva Awards in the widest sense. Sound interesting? Please contact Dr Victoria Kamsler.

The second is also connected to the Katerva Awards and while not paid it is very interesting and hugely rewarding: the selection of the final winner for each of the 10 award categories is done by experts! Have a look at their website, and if you feel your expertise could be valuable in the process please get in touch with Bettina

Just in case you are not sure what to do with those beautiful long evenings, here a couple of reading suggestions:

The first is by Margaret Heffernan whom Bettina had the pleasure of meeting  back in 2006 when both were keynote speakers at an innovation conference in Ireland. It is our great pleasure to share news of her latest publication "Beyond Measure" which looks at the small changes all of us can make to build a more productive, creative culture at work (and which was commissioned by TED.
The second book suggestion comes from Lis. She has just finished reading it and swears that it  has been a game changer for her” The Happiness Advantage. In his book Shawn Achor discusses new findings  from the field of positive psychology, and how these can be used to improve efficiency  in the workplace. His strategy has been used by many companies during the 2008 crises, and is has opened the discussion about the importance of having a pleasing work environment for all employees.
We have also come across a few awards this week that open for submissions which might be of interested to you.

The CommBeBiz Award that will showcase innovative ideas emerging from research projects in the bioeconomy sector – food, agriculture, fisheries, forestry and biotechnology. The call opened on the 26th of May and will close on the 31st of August 2015. Find all information here
Another award is the Responsible Business Awards 2015 that celebrates responsible business practices. This is a great opportunity to reconfirm and display your sustainability commitments and efforts. Their submission deadline is the 19th of June and you can find more information about here.

Finally, the PEX Awards  is rewarding companies process excellence on the project, program and individual levels. The Awards submission deadline is 4 September. Click here to learn more about the award.
