NaCSBA News October 2019

Welcome to the latest edition of NaCSBA News, bringing NaCSBA members up to date with news, information and events. As a group we rely on our members, so it's important that we communicate what we're doing to improve the sector, and create opportunities for your business.
The Executive Committee, NaCSBA
Dear NaCSBA Member,

Here at NaCSBA we are excited to have reached Right to Build Day on 30 October, the date when local authorities in England need to prove that they have delivered on the first year of the Right to Build legislation. It is great seeing the impact of the changes that NaCSBA has made to the sector. We will be tracking activity around the Right to Build and sharing our findings, and making sure that the Government is also on the case.

But making change is hard, not least given how stuck in a rut the current market is and the scale of the established players. NaCSBA operates on a yearly budget similar to the profit that Persimmon makes every hour, and we rely almost exclusively on money from our members to help us to help you. So we would like to thank you for helping us to bring about change.

We are always keen to hear from our members about what more we can do to support you, be it to highlight your successes or help drive change where needed.

 Andrew Baddeley-Chappell, CEO, NaCSBA

NaCSBA will be checking to see how many of the 18,000 plots have actually progressed. But we need to ensure that those interested in self building keep signing up to their local Self Build Registers, to ensure they remain robust and reliable.

Demand for new homes falls

NEWS   The Federation of Master Builders has reported that demand for new homes had fallen by 8%, to its lowest level in five years.
