Dear NaCSBA Member,

Whilst it may not seem it on the ground, 2019 is looking like a pivotal year for our sector.  Wales led the way with the announcement of its self-build fund, and Scotland followed with its introduction of self build-registers.

In England we had Right to Build Day on 30 October which NaCSBA celebrated with Richard Bacon MP at the wonderful  Build It Self Build Education House  at Graven Hill,  which is increasingly being built out.

Finally, the need for further support from Government has been recognised in the Conservative manifesto - see below.  I am sure we will all soon be fed up of hearing “2020 vision”.  Before we get there my vision is that it will be the Year of Self Build - more about this next month.  My thanks to all who have supported NaCSBA and hence made all of this change possible.

 Andrew Baddeley-Chappell, CEO, NaCSBA

Campaign update

 RIGHT TO BUILD DAY

Right to Build Day triggered our Freedom of Information request - sent to 327 local authorities in England to track activity around the Right to Build and the supply of plots. So far, the results are showing a mixed bag of practice - results we will be sharing in the New Year.

 VAT SURVEY
This closes in November - please have one last push - tweet, send a comm or share to get the message out - we are under our previous response rate, and the target is to beat it!

HELP TO BUILD EQUITY LOAN SCHEME
With Government in purdah for the elections, activity around the Help to Build is on hold. NaCSBA's Right to Build Policy Commission is lobbying to get self builders to access a 5% mortgage product, a Help to Build to rival Help to Buy.

2020 THE YEAR OF SELF BUILD
Next month we will share with you why 2020 Year of Self Build will be the year we see real change in the number of sites coming to market – as the time has never been better for Self and Custom Building. Click the logo to download it and use it in your own marketing.

Visit  NaCSBA's campaign page  for information about these, and our other campaigns, and find out how we are working for you.

Javid backs 50/50 land uplift tax - reports The Telegraph
