Brady’s Bunch (Of Touchdowns)
For the past year and a half, the sports world has been spellbound/held hostage by “Deflategate,” the controversy in which Mr. Gisele -- also known in some circles as legendary New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady -- maybe deflated footballs to gain a competitive advantage. After over a year of legal battles, he finally served a four game suspension that ended this week, meaning this is behind us. FINALLY. So about the actual sports: Brady came back in a big way, playing so well in a Pats win that he was easily Sunday’s second biggest star (after, of course, Ken Bone).
Nice Baseball, Eh?
As everyone who grew up eating hockey pucks dipped in maple syrup knows, yesterday was Canadian Thanksgiving.  This year, they might have been thankful for their one baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, who just finished off a sweep of the Texas Rangers to make it to the American League Championship Series (i.e. baseball’s semifinals) against the Cleveland Indians, who are trying to win their first championship since 68 BKB (“Before Ken Bone,” also known as 1948).
“Hopefully Deflategate will finally go the way of Bill Clinton’s sex scandals: mercifully ignored for about 18 years. Or at least brought up only as needed for political purposes.”
The WNBA -- aka the women's NBA -- doesn't get enough love in the sports press. But game-winning buzzer-beaters in the Finals have a way of changing that, at least a little. Enter Alana Beard, whose last-second dagger gave the LA Sparks a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Lynx.
More baseball playoffs! The Washington Nationals try to close out the LA Dodgers today (5 PM ET on FS1).
The Chicago Cubs are trying to win their first championship since 1908. Go Cubs.
