RE: Calling for 2017 Conference Speakers

This message is from your Conference Co-Chairs

Speaker Proposals for CWA’s Annual 2017 Conference are being accepted now through January 9, 2017. The conference will be held in conjunction with BlogPaws 2017 from May 18 to 20, 2017, at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel in South Carolina. CWA writers’ tracks will be scheduled for Thursday, May 18, or Friday, May 19. Sessions are scheduled to run for approximately one hour each. Please allow sufficient time for Q&A.

Topic categories could include a focus on a genre or style, writing for various media, marketing and promotion, how to get published, timely and new topics, telling a story through visuals, trends in publishing, trends in topics, something new and different that would enlighten the attendees who communicate about cats. Bonus points will be given for those ideas that will appeal to BlogPaw members as well as traditional writers.

Speakers will receive gratis one blogger pass to the entire joint conference and one ticket to the CWA Banquet on Friday night. Lodging, minus incidentals, is also covered for Thursday through Saturday, with checkout on Sunday. Only speakers scheduled to present on Thursday will be comp’d lodging for Wednesday.

If you are interested in submitting a speaking proposal that would appeal to cat writers and cat communications professionals ranging from novice to experienced, please send a synopsis of your topic along with a title to Marci Kladnik, mkauthor@verizon.net. Please include any previous public speaking experience.

Whether or not you are interested in speaking at the conference, we hope you plan to attend. The opportunities for networking, meeting with editors and agents, engaging with fellow writers formally and informally, and generally having fun among people who share your love of animals and communicating about them is not to be missed.

We welcome your questions, and we look forward to receiving your proposals.

Sharon Melnyk and Marci Kladnik, Conference Co-Chairs
